Caps fall to Dallas 5-2 Tuesday
Posted on November 09, 2011An even game after two periods turned into a Dallas victory at Verizon Center Tuesday, as the Stars claimed a 5-2 victory. Dallas opened the scoring in the first period as Trevor Daley launched a shot from the top of the left circle that was tipped by Michael Ryder to give Dallas a 1-0 lead at the 10:32 mark. Washington tied the game on a power play goal from Alexander Semin, his third tally of the season at 15:43 of the frame, but the Stars would again look to Ryder to get the lead. After an outstanding save by Michal Neuvirth, Ryder would work down low and stickhandle his way to his second goal of the game, and his sixth of the season. The goal at 17:16 made the score 2-1 after one. The Stars held a one-goal lead through the second until John Carlson scored his second goal of the season, and his second in three games, sending the teams to second intermission tied at two. On this night, a close game into the final frame meant a runaway win for the visitors. With the game tied early in the third, Adam Burish scored what proved to be the game-winning goal just 24 seconds in. Jamie Benn would increased the Dallas lead with a power play goal to make it 4-2 at 7:33, and Eric Nystrom used a burst of speed as he finished off the scoring for the Stars, and the Capitals. 5-2 the final score, as the Caps fall to 9-4-0 on the season.
