Mike Palmateer blanks Detroit 2-0, March 26, 1981

As our flashback summer continues, we head back today to March 26, 1981. Goaltender Mike Palmateer (sporting a sweet mask in this photo) recorded a 2-0 shutout at Detroit against the Red Wings. Tim Tookey and Mike Gartner provided the goals, as Palmateer picked up the victory. It was one of two shutouts he'd pitch for the Capitals that season. Over two seasons with Washington, Palmateer won 20 games and sported a 4.03 goals against average. But on March 26, 1981, he was the story.
