Bears release 2012 training camp roster
Posted on September 28, 2012
News from north of the Mason-Dixon line on this Friday, as the Bears unveiled its 2012 training camp roster in advance of Sunday's first day of on-ice activities in Chocolatetown. Hershey will welcome five goaltenders (including Braden Holtby), 13 defensemen (including Dmitry Orlov and Cameron Schilling) and 24 forwards (including Mattias Sjogren and Zach Hamill) to camp on Sunday, with logistics a bit different from years past. Usually, players trickle down to the AHL after cuts are made in NHL camps. However, without any hockey activities at Kettler at the moment, head coach Mark French and assistant coach Troy Mann will have all 42 players on day one Sunday. Two sessions are expected each day, with Group A scheduled to take to the ice around 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The Chocolate and White will play a total of four preseason games, with two against the Binghamton Senators and two against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins before concluding camp on Sunday, October 7. Hershey will open the 2012-13 regular season Saturday, October 13 in Syracuse.
A reminder that our coverage from Hershey begins Sunday here on the blog, as well as at Mike Vogel's Dump and Chase, and at WashingtonCaps.com. Click the link above for the full Hershey camp roster. If you were here for any part of development camp in July, you'll see plenty of familiar names.
Hitting the road this afternoon for Pennsylvania. Hope there is hockey in Arlington sooner rather than later, but in the meantime, we'll feed you the latest from Hershey.
