Backstrom nets shootout winner as Caps win 3-2 in New York

Posted on March 24, 2013 by John Walton

The Capitals and Rangers began the third period all tied at 2-2, and neither team could score. An overtime period didn't yield a winner either. But in the fourth round of a shootout, Washington's first of the season, Nicklas Backstrom won the game for the Caps in the fourth round. What a road trip. Three straight wins, and six points out of a possible eight. Braden Holtby is now 7-3-0 in March as well. Listen to the game-winner below, as the Caps down the Rangers 3-2 at Madison Square Garden.
